School and Community Mental Health and Treatment Intervention Services
Providers
Anticipated project outcomes include the following:
Reduce disruptive and violent behavior for the identified population through Multisystemic Therapy (MST) services. MST will address the multiple needs of juveniles and their families who are at risk for out-of-home placement. Three (3) MST Therapists will work with sixty (60) to seventy-five (75) families daily or weekly, over time, to achieve behavior changes that can be observed and measured, using home-based delivery to overcome barriers to accessing services.
Development of sixteen (16) buddies/amigos as a para-professional group of mental health workers assigned to eight (8) elementary schools. They will work with 48-60 K-3 grade students per site utilizing non-directive play. They provide a safe bridge to school life for students and safe environment for students to share their concerns, fears and anxieties. Parents are contacted at least twice in the twelve week long session.
A Community Case Management Team comprised of school-based behavior health specialists, County Behavioral Health personnel and parents/community members will be formed to identify the students to receive MST and buddies/amigos services.
