The Boronda Adobe
Jose Eusebio Boronda lived in this adobe. Mr Boronda was in
the Battle of Natividad. They had only three rooms, the front room, the
kitchen and a bedroom. There was a door above the back door. The door led
to a loft where the guys slept. The deck went all the way around the house.
Mr. Boronda and his wife had thirteen children.
Eusebio went to get grizzly bears for the bull and bear fights. One time Eusebio told a guy that he had caught a bear that weighed a lot of pounds. The man bet his saddle that had silver on that it it didn't weigh that much. They weighed the bear and Eusebio won the bet so he got the saddle that had silver on it. Mrs. Boronda made cheese that she sold. Back then the kids would milk the cows and churn the butter.
Inside the adobe they had Mexican clothes and old saddles and a bear rug.
