Computer Literacy and Design Class

If you are one of the lucky 20 parents to jave a child in a computer literacy and design class, Carol and I would like to thank you for your chlid's participation. This class has been a year in the making. We are very excited about the class and the manner in which the students are conducting themselves.
The course is built on the premise of developing a business. The students learn to write business letters, research inventories, do cost analysis, create flyers, design floor plans, design logos and other creative activities for their hypothetical business. They are using some of the most advanced technology and software available: Microsoft Office 2001, PageMaker for desktop publishing, Painter 6 and Illustrator 9 and Photoshop. They will be using digital still cameras and a digital video camera, plus scanners to producers projects. At the completion of the course, the students will have developed a business, completed a cross curricular project involving other classes and be a part of a presentattion of their projects to parents and community people.
The students in this class have been a joy to work with. Their attendance has been excellent, their attitude wonderful and their patience with a new course and ironing out bugs very appreciated. Again, Carol and I can't thank these students anough for their refreshing attitudes and the motivation that they have brough to this class. Following are some comments from our Computer Literacy and Design Class Students

My name is Dimitrus and I'm in the computer literacy class. I have alot of fun in this class because I love working with computers. This class is unlike any I've ancountered at Central Coast. It's very work-oriented, and all the students do work all the time. I feel pretty lucky to be one of the few kids in this class because this will help me in the real world and it's good to be ahead of the pack. There have been some snags along the way but the class has been an overall success in my mind. I'm gaining valuable knowledge and having fun at the same time.

The computer literacy class is a great class. I like being on the computer all period long. It gives me a break from the books. I've always wanted to learn more about computers so this class is a class I really want to be in and learn more. Our last assignment was writing a business letter. That skill will be great if I want to work in a business as a typist. I would encourage anyone who doesn't know a thing about computers to take this class.

The computer literacy class has taught me lots of new ways to improve my skills on the computer without getting stuck somewhere and having to ask for help. At first I didn't want to take the class but after getting to work on the computer I really liked it more then some of my other classes, maybe because it keeps me occupied. I think this class will really help the students here, because it sure is helping me. I also notice that all the other students in my class work well in here rather then being disruptive or goofing off, we're all on task. I've learned how to write letters, business notes, save documents, shut down properly, understand computer definitions and actually know what they mean. This class has really improved my skills.
